Mashhad to host Fajr poetry festival closing ceremony

The closing ceremony for the 11th International Fajr Poetry Festival is going to be held in Mashhad on March 8.  

 “The first round of evaluation process has nearly finished and the nominations for the awards in all categories will be selected. In the final phase of evaluation two other judges will review the works,” Mohammad Kazem Kazemi, the festival spokesperson, said.

Kazemi added, “It’s difficult to judge the works. One should have read all the works that were submitted in previous years and compare them with those competing this year. Yet the trend in Farsi poetry hasn’t changed and we haven’t observed something new. As far as I can tell, young poets have done better which is quite natural. The power of youth has made their poetry stronger than veteran poets. This year both young and old have submitted their works. This has made this edition of the festival unique. ”

Poems approved by the preliminary reviewing panel compete in three main categories: about poetry, adult poetry and children’s poetry.
